X5460 Overclocking Advice

Hi guys,

Before I finally get around to building another scrapheap PC (X3440 on 1156 or W3565 on 1366, or something else on 1155 lol), I'm gonna try to get this PC (X5460, LGA 771/775) to go a little quicker.

So far I've:

  • turned the CPU frequency up to 390Mhz (x9.5 multi gives 3.661 GHz according to CPU-Z though it should be more like 3.7 GHz)
  • turned the VCore up to nearly 1.42v (CPU-Z reports 1.36, vdroop?)

Memory is 8GB DDR2 PC6400 running at same frequency as CPU (390Mhz) giving speed of 780Mhz.

Was hoping to get a little more out of this and perhaps look to change some settings to improve stability when overclocked. Any thoughts guys?

  • increase the voltage on the Front Side Bus (FSB), for DDR2 you can put 2.1 volts into them do not go higher than that.
